Blogpost CableEZ Cable Clutter for Higher Ed

Blogpost CableEZ Cable Clutter for Higher EdAfter 30 years of supporting events in college classrooms and conference rooms, Jeremy Meyer and Jeff VandeHoef found that one of the biggest and most frustrating audio/video (A/V) issues were cables that went missing, disconnected, or became damaged. Fast-forward, and they formed CableEZ to give peace of mind to IT managers, especially in higher education—to make these learning spaces truly convenient, reliable and useful… with “fuss-free” cables!

Achieving this necessitates minimal additional support once implemented. Extensively used in schools, colleges, and training centers, A/V cables enable effective communication. However, managing them in classrooms, lecture halls, and collaboration spaces can be time-consuming and messy resulting in potential hazards as well as loss of teaching time for both students and educators. After all, who wants to deal with various A/V equipment’s tangled pile of black cables that all look virtually the same?

Cutting-edge Cable Organization
Enter CableEZ. With a goal of creating user-friendly environments, CableEZ’s solutions:

  • maintain seamless connections
  • keep cables damage-free
  • reduce cable clutter
  • eliminate lost cables
  • prevent theft of cables
  • minimize IT support calls

With its Captive Cable Mount, CableEZ’s system essentially eliminates access to the cable connection point—resulting in an always-connected, continuously working cable. The user simply unwinds the cable and winds it back up when done!

This solution also provides a dramatically cleaner A/V environment by:

  • providing a compact storage place for the cable
  • eliminating visible connection points that protrude and can become damaged
  • enabling any type of cable to be used with the device—HDMI, USB, data, and even microphone cables

CableEZ essentially has designed and developed a captive cable device that virtually eliminates cable frustrations in classrooms, boardrooms, meetings, and huddle spaces in higher education with its streamlined, secure, dependable, and worry-free connection point for end-users. By implementing CableEZ products, educational institutions can ensure a neat, hazard-free A/V environment—which allows teachers and students to focus on learning without distractions, improving the overall educational experience.

The Ins and Outs
Installing CableEZ’s Captive Cable Mount is, as its company’s name invokes, just that—easy:

  1. Mount the CableEZ ring in its desired location (wall, over an electrical gang box, on a portable cart, etc.).
  2. The cable going to the TV, projector, or system enters the CableEZ ring one of three ways—either through a hole in the wall, from the gang box, or the surface mount slot.
  3. Splice or capture the cable, which then continues out the bottom cable slot.
  4. After placing the cable in the exit slot, the cover plate attaches to the ring and captures the cable. The plate provides the storage location for the cable.

The CableEZ Captive Cable Mount consists of two parts: the back ring (in single and two gang versions) and the cover plate, available in black or white; mounting hardware is included for all of the optional methods. These seamless parts significantly make tangled A/V cables a pain of the past. Come join CableEZ’s movement of transforming A/V cable management in higher education—enhancing productivity, safety, and aesthetics!

Blog Protect and Secure

In today’s interconnected world, audio-visual (AV) systems are an essential part of various public and shared spaces—from conference rooms and classrooms to airports and retail environments. These systems rely on a complex network of cables to transmit video, audio, and data, ensuring smooth operation and communication. However, with this reliance comes a growing concern: the security of your AV cables and the devices they connect.

As an AV cable security manufacturer, we recently conducted a client survey to better understand the critical role that cables play in the overall integrity and performance of your AV system. When these cables are left vulnerable to theft or tampering, the consequences can be costly and disruptive. This blog explores the importance of securing your AV cables in public and shared spaces and the measures you can take to protect your investment.

The Risks of Unsecured Cables

In public or shared environments, AV cables are often left exposed, making them easy targets for theft, tampering, or accidental damage. The risks associated with unsecured cables include:

  1. Theft: High-quality AV cables can be expensive, and their theft can lead to costly replacements. Moreover, the loss of essential cables can result in system downtime, disrupting operations and causing delays.
  2. Tampering: Unsecured cables are susceptible to tampering, which can lead to signal interference, degraded performance, or even complete system failure. This can be particularly problematic in environments where AV systems are critical for communication, such as in healthcare facilities or educational institutions.
  3. Accidental Damage: In busy public spaces, cables that are not properly secured can be easily damaged by foot traffic, equipment movement, or other factors. This can lead to unexpected maintenance costs and system disruptions.

The Importance of Securing Your Cables

Securing your AV cables is not just about protecting the cables themselves; it’s about safeguarding the entire AV system. A secure system ensures consistent performance, protects your investment, and maintains the integrity of your communication network. Here’s why securing your AV cables should be a top priority:

  1. Preventing Unauthorized Access: By securing your cables, you reduce the risk of unauthorized access to your AV system. This helps to maintain the privacy and security of the data being transmitted, which is particularly important in environments that handle sensitive information.
  2. Ensuring System Reliability: Secure cables are less likely to be tampered with or damaged, ensuring that your AV system remains reliable and functions as intended. This is crucial in environments where system uptime is essential, such as in corporate settings or public safety applications.
  3. Reducing Downtime and Costs: When cables are properly secured, the likelihood of theft, tampering, or damage is significantly reduced. This minimizes the need for costly replacements or repairs and reduces the risk of system downtime, saving you time and money in the long run.

AV systems are integral to the functionality of many public and shared spaces, securing your cables is more important than ever. By investing in reliable cable security solutions, you can protect your system from theft, tampering, and damage, ensuring that your AV setup remains secure and operational.
